Our Favorites

  • Colorful hydrangea flowers in shades of pink, purple, and blue with green leaves.

    Hydrangea Macrophylla 'Endless Summer'

    Alternative Name: Bailmer

    Hardiness Zones: 4 5 6 7 8 9

Sun/Shade Preferences: Prefers morning sun and afternoon shade

Description: Recapture the feeling of a never-ending summer with ‘Endless Summer’, the first Hydrangea macrophylla that blooms on both old and new wood for repeat-blooming color all season long. In addition to repeat blooms, ‘Endless Summer’ is unusually hardy, even in Zone 4 climates. It produces big, showy flower mops – clear pink blooms in alkaline soils and blue blooms in acid soils. Makes an excellent choice for foundation, specimen and shrub or perennial borders. Expect ‘Endless Summer’ to grow to a mature size of 3 to 5 feet width and height.

  • Close-up of a vibrant red rose with green leaves in a garden setting.

    Double Knockout Roses

    Alternative Name: Radtko

    Hardiness Zones: 4 5 6 7 8 9

Sun/Shade Preferences: Full sun to partial shade, very shade tolerant

Description: Double Knock out roses are more floriferous than Knockout and raises the bar with petal counts of 18 to 25 – twice the number of Knockout, borne 3 to 6 on a stem. The additional petals present a fuller, richer cherry red in florescence that is simply breathtaking. These blooms of shiny fire engine red are about 2-1/2" wide. Without deadheading, the blooms maintain a continuous show of color from early June to hard frost with beautiful foliage almost year-round. The new growth is a dramatic burgundy red.

Double Knockout presents itself in a more dense, compact (3 to 4 feet) and up right fashion than Knockout's 5 to 6 foot height and broad, spreading form. This beautiful plant has a natural resistance to blackspot, as well as other diseases and insects.

  • Bright orange and red autumn tree under a clear blue sky.

    Black Tupelo, Sour Gum

    Alternative Name: Nyssa Sylvatica

    Hardiness Zones: 5 6 7 8 9

Sun/Shade Preferences: Prefers sun to partial shade

Description: One of our most beautiful native trees. The leaves are a lustrous dark green in spring and summer. In fall they change to shades of fluorescent yellow to orange, to scarlet, and purple. One of the best and most consistent trees for fall color. The bark is sometimes scaly and sometimes block-like – but always handsome. The habit of this tree is also variable. It often exhibits a somewhat pyramidal form when young with some pendulous branches (think Pin Oak) but is often upright oval at maturity.

Black Gum responds impressively to good water and fertilization practice; a typical tree will reach 12 to 15 feet over a ten-year period.
